Motion Array is the all-in-one video & filmmakers platform. Part of their product offering is the Review System, a video collaboration tool. It allows customers to upload videos and get frame-accurate feedback from clients or stakeholders.

Video collaboration was a fragmented process, buried in endless email chains and disconnected tools. The legacy platform lacked the scalability and frame-accurate precision needed for professional workflows, creating significant bottlenecks for stakeholders.

Designed a streamlined, frame-accurate feedback system that allows users to leave precise comments at specific timestamps. To ensure a seamless transition, we implemented a dual-track strategy, refreshing the existing UI with high-demand features while simultaneously building a modern, advanced architecture. resulting in a zero downtime evolution for thousands of users.

For the first iteration, we analyzed user feedback to identify critical gaps in the existing workflow, introducing granular control through threaded comments, versioning, and refined access permissions.
To better align with the professional tools editors use daily, we transitioned to a dark-themed UI, creating a familiar, high-focus environment. Additionally, by implementing a responsive design, we enabled stakeholders to provide feedback from any device, including mobile and TV, giving both creators and clients the flexibility to collaborate seamlessly from the studio or on the move.

Many users struggle with the high cost of custom assets or the steep learning curves of professional software. To bridge this gap, we developed an extensive library of high-quality templates and backgrounds, empowering creators to produce professional results quickly and cost-effectively without the need for specialized design tools or expensive external hires.

Our primary focus was elevating the player view by transitioning from a sidebar based system to frame accurate, on-screen commenting. While the previous iteration supported timestamped feedback, the sidebar layout created a cognitive disconnect between the comment and the visual context. By enabling direct on-screen interaction, we empowered reviewers to pinpoint specific areas within the frame, providing the granular control necessary to deliver feedback with absolute precision.

Expanding beyond standard project-level sharing, we introduced "looped section sharing" to allow creators to isolate and share specific segments of the timeline. This feature enables teams and clients to focus on granular details without the friction of reviewing an entire video or clarifying timestamps, streamlining the review process and ensuring feedback is always delivered in the correct context.
